This qualification provides you with essential laboratory skills needed to carry out recording and measurement of results and assisting in collecting and preparing of samples. You will learn skills in maintaining a laboratory, routine sampling and testing, recording data, and using laboratory computing programs.

Your Certificate III in Laboratory Skills is flexible and available in class or via atraineeship so you can fit study around your life and not the other way around.

This qualification is directly aligned with priority industry areas where jobs are today, and into the future. As part of the state government Lower fees, local skills program, through to 31 December 2025 you'll only pay half the tuition fees (plus resource fee) capped at $1,200; or $400 if you're aged 15—24 or eligible for a concession.

On campus

The typical timetable is 3 days per week.

Work placement is optional.

The qualification can be gained through an approved traineeship program; however you will need to be employed and registered as a trainee before you can commence training.

Study outside of class hours, including private study, assignment preparation, and research will be required to successfully complete your course.

Bring your own device (BYOD) is encouraged but not essential.
If you don’t have access to a computer and WiFi at home, we recommend using our library computers during library hours.

As a student you will also have additional costs associated with your study, for example text books and stationery, printing and other materials required for your assignments.
